You might have arrived at this question because you are either looking to get high or very desperate not to get high.

CBD comes from the cannabis plant which is known to cause feelings of intoxication. Because of this link, it is no wonder why you are asking does CBD get you high.

In this blog, we are going to take a look at the ins and outs of CBD and whether it can make you feel high, intoxicated, dizzy, giggly or anything else that cannabis might make you feel.

Does CBD get you high | The basics

CBD comes from the cannabis plant. The cannabis plant contains terpenes and hundreds of cannabinoids, two of which we know lots about – CBD and THC. THC is the cannabinoid that can cause the following side effects:

  • Nausea
  • Giggles
  • Hunger (munchies!)
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Paranoia
  • Feeling intoxicated

For the above reasons, in most countries, cannabis containing THC is a controlled drug that you cant legally buy or possess.

CBD isn’t known to have the same effects as THC, which keeps it legal (again, in most countries but always check your countries laws!)

CBD is actually thought to help act as an antidote for taking too much cannabis to reduce the effects of symptoms such as nausea, anxiety and intoxication.

How might CBD make you feel if it doesn’t get you high?

So now we know that CBD doesn’t get you high, you might be wondering how it makes you feel. It can affect different people in different ways as it interacts with your body’s own cannabinoid system.

You might notice the following effects of taking CBD:

  • Reduced anxiety
  • Elevated mood
  • Relaxation
  • Reduced pain and inflammation
  • Improved sleep

Some CBD contains THC – will that CBD get you high?

You’ll notice that on some CBD (full spectrum) it contains low levels of THC. This is just because the cannabis plant has been filtered less aggressively and therefore some THC matter remains. However, in the UK the legal limit of this is 0.2% THC.

That is a tiny amount. Certainly not enough to get you high or make you feel intoxicated in any way.

If you want to avoid any THC then opt for broad-spectrum or CBD isolate. This will have been aggressively filtered to remove any THC. Broad-spectrum will still contain terpenes which may have their own benefits, but there will be 0% THC.

Does CBD get you high if you vape it?

Vaping CBD is a popular delivery method. You simply top up your specific vape device with CBD e liquid and can heat and inhale it. This is one of the most bioavailable ways to take the cannabinoid – which basically means it enters your bloodstream quickly and may have an effect on pain, inflammation, headaches, depression and more.

I want to get high- how much CBD should I take?

Even if you take a dose of the 1000mg CBD you will not get high. It is THC which causes you to feel these effects and without it being present in CBD you’re not going to feel it. It’s like saying – how much lemonade do I have to drink to get drunk.

If you do take too much CBD you might end up with some adverse side effects such as:

  • Tiredness
  • Upset stomach
  • Nausea

Make sure the dosage is always right for you and your body.

So, does CBD get you high? No. Does CBD leave you relaxed, chilled and help ease pain – quite possibly. Why not see for yourself!
