Vaping is known as a popular way to quit smoking. However, in the world of CBD, vaping CBD vape oil is a bioavailable way to enjoy the cannabinoid.
Vaping CBD is easy, fast-acting and can be very effective. However, if you have no experience with vaping, you might feel a little overwhelmed by what device and CBD vape oil is best to buy.
In this blog, we will break down all the elements of vaping CBD, to help you get started.
Why would I vape CBD?
As we have touched on, vaping CBD is the most bioavailable way to enjoy cannabidiol. This means that it enters your bloodstream faster than other methods, such as eating cannabinoid products. The vapour enters makes its way through the tiny capillaries in your lungs, and into your bloodstream where it can work its magic.
Vaping CBD is easy and discrete. We will go into this in more detail a little later, but just know that the devices don’t blow huge clouds and they’re very simple to operate.
Something we like about vaping the cannabinoid is the range of flavours. You can opt for an authentic cannabis flavour, such as Blue Cheese, or you can go for a more vape like fruity flavour, such as CBD IBZ.
What can it help me with?
CBD may help with a number of conditions and ailments. We have heard results from the following issues:
- Chronic pain
- Depression and anxiety
- Sleep disorders
- Period pains
- Menopause symptoms
- Mood disorders
- Cancer symptoms
- Nausea and headaches
- Skin conditions
What CBD vape oil do I need?
Firstly, let’s clear one thing up. Despite it often being called CBD vape oil, it isn’t actually an oil at all. The liquid is made up of PG and VG, flavourings and the cannabinoid. Oil is not designed to move through vape devices or your lungs, so make sure you only use e-liquids in your device, not tincture drops.
The CBD vape oil you will need varies depending on your personal taste. As we have mentioned you can get fruity flavours or authentic cannabis flavours. Here are a few that we recommend:
What strength do I need?
You will notice that the bottle will have a number followed by “mg”. This is how much CBD is in the bottle of CBD vape oil. We suggest that when you first start vaping the cannabinoid, you opt for a lower dose and gradually increase once you know your tolerance.
Make sure you look at concentration levels when buying your CBD e-liquid. For example, if you buy a 10ml bottle with 250mg within it, that is 2.5% CBD. If you were to buy a larger 100ml bottle with 250mg within it, that would be 0.25% CBD. We suggest that you spend money on the concentration of the cannabinoid, rather than the volume of e-liquid.
- 10ml bottle containing 250mg = 2.5%
- 100ml bottle containing 250mg = 0.25%
Your CBD e-liquid should not contain nicotine. They are not one to mix. If you are a vaper trying to quit smoking then keep that tank or device separate. Problem is, nicotine degrades the cannabinoid.
What device do I need for using CBD vape oil?
If you are brand new to the world of vaping, then you might be overwhelmed with all the choices. Big tanks. Big box kits. Lots of buttons. LED screen. Well, you don’t need any of that for CBD.
The thing is, CBD vape oil is thin with a high PG base. PG is thin and therefore will be more prone to leaking out of these large tanks and kits. The ideal device for CBD vaping is a basic, starter kit. You don’t need buttons or even a screen.
Due to its high PG base, in a low powered device, it will not produce huge clouds and is very discreet. These devices are also much smaller and fit easily in your pocket or purse.
Here are a few we recommend. If you want a more in-depth look at the best kits for vaping CBD, read our blog here >>
Ignite One CBD Vape Kit
- Ignite One CBD Vape Kit£29.99
If you are looking for the easiest vape device to use for your CBD, then you’ll like this. There is no need to change coils, or even refill e-liquid, as you just replace the pods once you are done. The device is rechargeable with an internal 380mAh battery, which isn’t the biggest.
It is lightweight, with a ceramic coating. The device is 100mm tall and 15mm wide, with a 1.5ml pod. One feature you might like about this simple kit is the anti-dry hit system. Dry hits are horrible, with this device you can avoid them.
This has to be one of our best-selling vape devices for CBD vape oil. The Aspire Pockex is a refillable device that you top up with e-liquid. In the long run, it works out cheaper to buy CBD vape oil bottles and replace coils, than replace a whole pod every time. You get 10ml of juice per bottle, where a prefilled pod will give you around 1.5ml.
You will need to change coils in this device. It is very easy to do so. In fact, our friends over at Vape and Juice have a whole blog on how to change coils on the Aspire Pockex and use this device >>
This device has all-day battery life and a leak-proof design. You can also vape it while it is on charge, as an added bonus.
Is vaping CBD legal? Can I do it anywhere?
Vaping CBD is legal in most countries. However, we always suggest that you check your countries laws before placing your order. CBD contains either none, or less than 0.2% THC.
In many places, smoking is banned, such as indoor spaces, workplaces, public transport and pubs. This rule applies to vaping more often than not. If you are not allowed to smoke in the area, chances are vaping is prohibited too.
Will vaping CBD show up on a drug test?
CBD contains either 0% or less than 0.2% THC. This is not enough to have any psychoactive effects. When you have a drug test they are testing for illegal substances, such as THC. With such small amounts, it shouldn’t show up.
However, if you are really worried about a trace showing up in a super sensitive drug test, then opt for CBD isolate or broad-spectrum. More on this next.
What is full-spectrum vape juice?
Full-spectrum CBD is extracted in a less aggressive way to the other methods. This means that it maintains the terpenes within it and trace amounts of THC. Terpenes have their own therapeutic benefits and are found within various other plants.
For example, if you are suffering from anxiety, then you will be best suited to a CBD vape oil with added Beta-Caryophyllene.
Broad-spectrum CBD contains terpenes, however, 0% THC is present. CBD isolate is just CBD, without terpenes or THC. These two would be the best option if you are nervous about sensitive drug tests.
Vaping dry herb CBD flowers
CBD flowers are a dry herb to be used in a dry herb vaporizer. They contain legal amounts of THC which will not get you high. Furthermore, they contain terpenes which have their own added benefits, providing you with the entourage effect.
Once you have vaped your flowers you can then eat the leftover plant matter by mixing with chocolate and topping brownies, sprinkling on butter or in your cooking. See our brownie recipe here.
CBD flowers aren’t legal everywhere though. Make sure you check in your country before you purchase or use CBD flowers.
Mistakes to avoid when vaping CBD
To finish up, we just want to recap a few mistakes to avoid, to ensure you get the most from vaping CBD.
- Make sure you consider concentration levels
Don’t just buy a big bottle of CBD vape oil because it is cheap, when it may mean that the concentration of CBD is very low.
- Buying hemp oil rather than CBD oil
Hemp oil has very low levels of the cannabinoid. If you see a CBD e-liquid that contains high levels of hemp, then don’t buy it expecting the effects of CBD.
- Don’t vape CBD oil or any oil
Oil is oil. E-liquid is e-liquid. They are two different things and oil is not designed to move through your lungs or a vape device. We have to mention THC oil here too. That is illegal. It has been the cause of cases of lipoid pneumonia in the US and subsequent deaths.
- Don’t put nicotine in your CBD
Nicotine degrades the cannabinoid. If you are trying to quit smoking then have a separate tank or device for your nicotine e-liquids.
- Use the right kit and right tank
Make sure you aren’t using a kit with huge air holes and a big coil. Otherwise, the CBD vape oil will leak out, which will be an expensive and messy problem.
Where do I start with vaping CBD?
What you choose is up to you, your preference, and your budget. Vaping dry herb can be more expensive mainly because of the initial outlay of the price of the dry herb kit. Whereas you can pick up a decent vape device and CBD vape oil for a reasonable price.
